Overdue Update – New Frames, In The Press

Welp, 2016 is well underway.  And I’ve not posted anything.  It’s kind of like the case of having too much to get through the funnel, so it gets clogged and nothing comes out.  Time to bring out the mental plunger and get it out piece by piece.
One of the things that stopped production on blog posts was the passing of David Bowie recently.  As some may note, I end all my blog posts with “What’s Playing.”  I’ve pretty much got music going at all times and that footnote lets folks know what is playing as I’m banging away on the keyboard.  One time, I forgot to post that bit and got an email asking “what’s playing?”  Took me a bit to figure it out, but have since not forgotten.  I also DJ and program two radio shows here at KWMR in Pt. Reyes Station.  “Bakersfield & Beyond” is one I co-host with a friend and we play mainly west coast country and modern artists influenced by the Bakersfield Sound.   The other, “Running With Scissors,” is dedicated to a wide variety of music styles – rock and all its variations, blues, soul…  And it is this show that I’ve spent a fair bit of time creating a tribute show to Bowie.  I spent hours relistening to the music looking for great covers of his songs and then try to fit it all into a 90 minute spot.  The show aired last night and is available to listen here for two weeks.  (Note, I would have loved to play Bowie songs for all 90 minutes, but the radio station’s music license permits a max of 4 songs by any one artist in a certain time period, hence all the covers).  Check it out if you like at the link – available until February 4.
On to the bike stuff!  Back in November, the Bicycling Magazine test editor emailed and wrote that he was doing a story on long-reach brakes and would I have a photo of my road frame (that uses long-reach brakes)?  Why yes, of course!  The story came out on Bicycling‘s website recently and I can’t say how stoked I am to be included in the mix of fantastic builders’ bikes.

But wait, there’s more!  The new run of cross and road frames is under way.  I got photos of the road frames on the paint line last night.  Really excited to see these in person.  The cross frames will be painted early next week (photos when available) and all the frames are slated to be shipped before the Taiwanese bicycle industry closes down for Chinese New Year.  I’m anticipating receiving the frames at the end of February.

Damn fine looking frames. I don't suppose my cross frame could get this spray.

A bit like throwing a big ole wrench in the works at this point. You'll just need a road frame too! 😉
