What a difference a couple of days make…

I had fairly high hopes for the 2008 holiday season, but coming into December 23 a couple grand under last December’s sales, I was a little bummed. I’m not one to constantly monitor sales reports and fret because I’m not “where I need to be” and I’m certainly not going to get down because of a particularly slow day. However, it was very nice to have December 2008 finish out a few hundred bucks over December 2007.

And 2009 has started with a bang too and I’ll take it for what it is today without (totally) expecting things to continue at the same pace. If I can take something away from each day – whether it’s a good sales day or because folks came into the shop who wouldn’t have on a normal day and because of the vibe of the shop or because I was able to quickly fix their bike so they can continue their ride, they will now pass on their good experience about the shop to their bike riding friends – I call that a good day. I’ve had quite a few of all of those types of days since Christmas.
