Blue Lug in Tokyo asked me for a bar design to complement the Black Mountain Cycles frames. I recalled the feel of swept up and back motocross style bars favored by the early mountain bike pioneers. I recall working on a Lawill Pro-Cruiser with such a bar and thinking “this handlebar shape feels super comfortable.” It put my wrists in just the right position. But they were pretty high in the rise department and I like the bars to be no higher than the saddle. So, I came up with a flat bar (hence the name Bar None, as in no rise) with a sweep and shape that, when rotated up gives a bit of rise, but also gives a comfortable platform and puts my wrists in a neutral position.
Fast forward a few months and the Bar None handlebars have arrived. Black or silver.
