As I mentioned in the previous post, I have a new road frame order placed. I’m anticipating the frames will be here around the end of July into August. The sooner the better I say. In anticipation of the new frames, I’m looking at a new color. All the trends are indicating a light blue is the new hot color for the year and as it happens I had already been thinking about a similar shade of blue as one of the colors.
This new production of road frames will have no surprises. Same geometry. Same tubeset. Same clearance for big, fat road tires. Same long reach brake caliper requirement. The one change I made is the same one I made to the last run of ‘cross frames: a reinforced, machined head tube. Just a nice little addition.
Color. Here’s the new blue color against the orange frame. I think it will make a great looking road frame color.
For the second color, I’m waffling on more orange or maybe black. What do you think?

I think the lightish blue would be great, the two together is very gulf stream racer.
Not a roadie, so take this with a grain of salt, but the blue and black are awesome!
Color choices aside, I want to congratulate you on the success of your frame venture. It took guts to start something like that during the recession and you make us proud.
I liked the champagne and it would be nice to see another transluscent hue that goes well with the shiny bits.

Not looking for a new bike, but my old RB-t is nearly that same light blue and I love it. Also, the black is great. As much as I like orange, I seem to get tired of the color.
Yeah, an orange frame with panels of the light blue on the top and down tube would be awesone, ina Steve McQueen Ford GT way…
Black! Yes! Black is better than orange. I think having a darker color option for the road frame is good. I think the blue is too pastel. More saturated blue I might like though.
Thanks, TJC. I still have that 62cm champagne frame…
no more orange???? No!!!! I got the rootbeer cross thinking I would get an orange road!
Not to worry, Chris. Orange is on order.
I like the blue. But then I'm biased, have a look at my L'avecaise from Lyonsport:
Look familiar? 🙂
@Jon- Steve McQueen drove a Porsche 917 in the movie Lemans that was bedecked in the light blue and orange livery of John Wyer/Gulf Oil racing. Prior to that, there was a Ford GT/Gulf Oil team in the same livery, but McQueen didn't drive it.
@BMC- love the light blue, and black is always beautiful.
I stand corrected.
I love the blue. To be honest, I've considered one of your frames on a number of occasions, but I always pass because neither the orange or the champagne speak to me at all. The blue is perfect though – exactly up my alley. Will look great with yellow bartape and what have you. You can put me in line for a 50cm.
Black!
