I’m not a fan of definitives – as in the best…, or the only way to…, or I’ll never bring back the Road frame. Because, here we are 5 years after the Road frame was shelved and it’s coming back. Five years ago, demand for the frame had waned and I couldn’t balance the supply with the demand. Last year, Blue Lug said they had some demand in the Japanese market for a caliper brake road frame. Hmmm, that could work out.
Here we are seven months later and a shipment of Road frames is soon on its way to Japan and to my on-site storage facility (the back half of the shop). I did have to change the sizes on offer from every 2 centimeters, to every 3 centimeters and couldn’t justify ordering the largest sizes. The frame sizing will be 50cm, 53cm, 56cm, and 59cm and the colorway will be the same Merckx-style graphics on orange as the previous frame. Sorry you tall folks. ETA on the frames is early June. I may have a pre-order sometime in May. Any details would be announced here or on Instagram.
Details, including geometry, are posted on the site under the Road tab. Pricing is tentatively set at $895 for frame + fork. This may or may not change up or down. Right now, I have no idea what the hell is going on.

Nice job on the 3cm tiered geometries! The 59cm has the right stack. Looking forward to more information.
any chance revealing the tire clearance?
All the details are posted on the site under the road tab.
Oh man, time to pull out my V1 Caltrans orange 58cm. Too good of a bike to never roll. This weekend it’s getting the nod. Good on you to keep this classic frame current.
I’ve admired your frames for years from the UK, and have just placed my first order for a ‘Road’ via Bluelug. Excited!
Thanks and have fun!
I’ll be buying one of these latest version 4 Molteni frames in 59cm.
ATTN TALL GUYS: I have a 62cm V3 one that’s a hair too big for me so, lmk if anyone needs it. Was only built up and ridden briefly before I determined it was a little big for me.
Location and price?
Seems he put it on ebay or at least the same description is listed.
Yes, I’ve listed it on eBay.
Hi there – just wanted to say I’ve had this bike/frame since 2017? or so, and it’s still PERFECT! got it as a temporary replacement for my Tom Ritchey road frame which was undergoing a repair (that frame is (was) my main ride til it broke, but to be fair, I rode it hard on a lot of dirt roads) / and yet your road frame rode just as nicely, the fit is perfect, being able to fit bigger / wide tires is fantastic. I felt it was a loss to the cycling world when you stopped making these; I convinced some of my friends to get this bike; and though late to the announcement, I am so glad these are back! Mike, you are a great designer / manufacturer of frames, the fit is perfect, the handling is great, and I hope more people get one of these frame- totally punches above it’s weight. And I have a road plus as well, but your rim brake road bike…it sings! the way disc brake bikes don’t. I ride through the New England winters, and with great brakes (Pauls or interestingly VO grand cru very good stoppers too), this bike is the one I prefer. Thank you again!
Thanks, Ron. I appreciate the follow up and am glad to hear you’re enjoying your bike.
Cheers.
