Same fork found on the Black Mountain Cycles Monster Cross frameset. The Pacenti P-B-P crown is wide enough to allow a 29″ x 2.1″ tire to fit.
Q – What offset should I get?
A – I spec the 55mm offset on sizes 52cm, 54cm, and 56cm size frames – all with 71.5 degree head angles. The 58cm, 60cm, 62cm, and 64cm frames have 72 degree head angles and get a fork with 50cm offset.
Q – I have a Surly Cross Check, will this fork be compatible with my frame.
A – (as I look up Surly’s info…) Yes! The Cross Check axle-crown is the same as mine at 400mm, but the offset is 44mm. With my fork, you’ll have a bit more offset (good for toe overlap on smaller frames) which means a bit less trail, but should work just fine and dandy.
Q – Can I install the fork on my mountain bike?
A – Probably not. The reality is this is a cross fork, not a mountain bike fork. The fork blades are not as stout as a mountain bike fork. That being said, most mountain bike frames are made around a much taller, suspension corrected front end and this fork will probably not play well with your frame anyway.
Q – Can I get it in another color?
A – Nope. Semi-gloss black is it. Think of it like all the black carbon forks you see on painted road bikes. It’ll look fine. Besides, it’s going to get dirty soon enough, right?
